The Amari Watergate Bangkok is the Amari chain's
flagship hotel, managed and operated by The ONYX Hospitality Group--an
Asian-Pacific firm with a portfolio of over 33 properties across Asia including
the Saffron chain. With easy access to Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports,
the Amari Watergate hotel is strategically located by the center of this
fascinating and pulsing city, only steps from Bangkoks famous shopping
district featuring the vibrant Platinum Fashion Mall and the Pratunam Center.
My first thought approaching the main entrance at Amari Watergate, was that the
hotel seemed rather unassuming from the outside. But as I entered the main
lobby of this 34-story building, its appearance shifted to
striking. |
|
Here I was quickly guided to
elevators leading up to the four executive floors; they offered their own
private reception desk where I checked in. The panoramic views from the
executive lounge on the 32nd floor were spectacular. Here, the Amari's special
focus is on the business traveler and includes the services of a
concierge-secretary providing 24-hour personal assistant service. |

Amari
Watergate - Executive Level - Suite |

My accommodations were surprisingly spacious, with
expansive windows overlooking the city. From there I even observed a political
demonstration on the street below my suite. The Amari Watergate offers several
dining options, a sizeable free-shaped swimming pool, a spa, a fitness center
and landscaped terrace gardens. General Manager Pierre Andre Pelletier, who
grew up in his parents hotel business in Switzerland, is a hands-on
executive, perfectly placed in this Five-Star establishment. |
